Episode 196 – Screw You, Save Me, Shall We Dance with Dion Flynn

Episode Overview

Today is an extraordinary episode. Who would guess a comedian would deliver one of the deepest and most thought-provoking episodes of the season? Gina and Susanna welcome comedian, impersonator, keynote speaker and improviser mindset coach, Dion Flynn to the show. Dion starts by admitting that comedy is a way to talk about heavy subjects, disguised in humor. Susanna asks Dion about intensity, and how it plays a role in the sales environment. Dion warns that certain intensity gives off the stench of desperation. Gina ponders if people who are better in personal relationships, are better in sales. Dion knows that listening is a vital part of good personal relationships and likens it to the building blocks of improv, which is grounded in listening and valuing the other people around you. So much of improv is about connection and skills in improv help you to read people and situations at a new level.

True listening brings learning. So they discuss the different ways people learn and why some people are driven by learning new things while others aren’t as much, or some that choose to take the opportunity to learn when the right moment presents itself.

Then things start to get deep. Conversations about addiction, DNA passed from our parents, difficult lessons from your upbringing, meditation, psychodrama, stabilizing your mind, healing old wounds, the power of stillness. Then it gets lighter with cashing in on prostate exams, presidential impersonations, searching for the love of your parents, an impromptu improv scene, and befriending and then reconnecting with Jimmy Fallon.

Do not miss a moment of this unique, immersive, moving, and yes, damn funny episode. Please take a minute to share this with someone that knows you and cares about it.

More About Susanna

Susanna decided to become a Sales Gravy Master Trainer because Sales Gravy’s vision matches her own beliefs and values.
